Types of anesthesia

  • General anesthesia : A powerful drug that causes unconsciousness
  • Intravenous : A needle inserted into a vein to give direct access to the bloodstream
  • Catheter : A thin tube inserted into the space outside of the spinal cord or around peripheral nerves
  • Injection : A needle and syringe is used to inject the drug into a body part
  • Topical : A lotion or spray that is applied to the skin
  • Eye drops : A drug that is applied to the eyes
  • Skin patch : A drug that is applied to the skin
